Inktober 2017

My drawings relating to archaeology and heritage!

Posted by Anna Heckadon on November 1, 2017

Hope you enjoy my drawings! I had such a blast making them throughout this past month! Definitely thinking of doing Drawcember!! But anyways, for Inktober 2017 I followed @KatherineRCook's prompts, which you can find here. Have a look through what I made in the images that follow, hopefully it inspires you and makes you itching to participate in Inktober or Drawcember in future! I sure had a great time!

A trowel; important part of an Archaeologist's tool belt!
My, not so perfect, aerial drawing of Stonehenge.
Here's my drawing of John Lennon's Rolls Royce. It was brought back to the Royal BC Museum today!
Just drew a lone head of statue on the sand at the bottom of the ocean.
Drew a Nikon camera because they help with preservation! I was inspired by @frantasticx's drone drawing.
A before & after drawing of an imaginary site that's been looted!
My representation of what I think it looks like working in the field.
Drew my representation of what it looks like to work in an archaeological lab. Had fun with this one!
I drew the Sutton Hoo helmet.
Today I drew Mary Leakey! And some footprints to symbolize her discovery of the Laetoli footprints.
Followed @archillu's tutoral for drawing mammoths! Turned out okay... :P
Drew some arrowheads!
This was hard; I drew things relating to immaterial culture. Materializing immateriality...
A community getting ready to dig, with the three archaeologists there on the side!!
For this one I copied some rock art I found online. It was fun to draw.
Just some ceramic sherds I drew based off an image I found online.
I'm half Icelandic so I drew a Viking longship to represent my Viking heritage.
Struggled all day with how to even draw "ethics," so I ultimately just decided to keep it simple.
I don't exactly have a favourite site, so I just drew the Venus of Willendorf instead.
Drew a 3D Printer based off an image I found online.
Just some Archaeologists working in the field!
Tried to draw some animal's skull I found a picture of under my Google Image search, "zooarchaeology."
Inspired by an image I found under the Google Image search for "archives."
I drew types of material that can be radiocarbon dated.
Drew a world map because Archaeology happens all over!
I'm sure you can guess whom these objects belong to... ...Indiana Jones of course!
Drew a Viking sword that was found in Norway in 2011.
Drew a monument I found in Ross Bay Cemetery.
Drew a Neolithic stone axe, like one I found on BBC's "A History of the World."
Kept it simple. Drew the plot and one of the footprints Duncan McLaren and Daryl Fedje found on Calvert Island about 2 years ago.
Followed @archillu's tutorial on how to draw a Halloween skull.
